What is Navamsa?

Navamsa (D9) is a divisional chart formed by dividing each 30° sidereal sign into nine segments of 3°20′. RASHINOS computes it deterministically from each graha's sidereal longitude.

How the mapping works

The first Navamsa of a sign starts from a sign determined by the sign's quality:

  • · Movable (Chara) sign — starts from the same sign.
  • · Fixed (Sthira) sign — starts from the 9th sign from it.
  • · Dual (Dvisvabhava) sign — starts from the 5th sign from it.

Each subsequent 3°20′ segment advances one sign through the zodiac. The segment index is floor(degree ÷ 3°20′) + 1.

RASHINOS does not treat D1 and D9 as a promise-and-delivery claim; that framing is traditional interpretation. It compares them as calculated placements.
